Your session - What to Expect
-
How would you like to come across in your images?
From your questionnaire answers, I will have established the sorts of images you are after. However, you are the one building your brand or building your business profile… so feel free to supplement any of that information with anything else you might think is relevant. Have a little think about any props you may need to appear in the shot to give your portrait context too. Sometimes, just sitting at a table holding a cuppa is more powerful as an image than standing stiff with your arms crossed. All depends on the nature of your business.
-
Timings & The Session itself
We’ll spend about 2 hours together. This will include a relaxed chat to begin with maybe around a cuppa. I might then look around your rooms to double check good locations… then we can start snapping away. We will try different poses, settings and scenarios. I will be showing you the images as we go along. You can at any point, pause, change your outfit or check in the mirror. Once the two hours are over, I will give you a rough time for delivery before I leave.

Location
This all depends on the sorts of images you are after. But if I am coming to you, best have a think about where we could frame some nice portraits. Feel free to send me some snaps of your home so that I can make that decision for you. I need as much soft natural light as possible. And be prepared for me to ask you to remove any clutter in certain parts (frames, ornaments etc) as we go along. If I am coming to your shop/workshop/studio/shop, the same applies but environmental portraits may be more the focus of the session.

Hate posing?
Don’t worry too much about this. Once you’ve sent over a few snaps of your shoot location and I have spent the first 5-10 minutes of the session having a look around, I will have worked out a good composition. Then I will just ask you take position, to stand in a certain way, and then we’ll just chat whilst I am shooting away. Feel free to be as detailed as you need when I ask you certain questions. Oversharing always breaks the ice!
-
What to wear?
Exactly what you’d wear if you were with a client. I would avoid anything that looks too busy.Best to avoid anything with spots and stripes/checks as those can be distracting. So plain tops/shirts/blouses are best. You are welcome to have a change of 2 or 3 outfits but do remember we only have 2 hours. The main thing is that you need to feel confident in what you wear. Take a moment before the session to work out what you’d like to wear.

Hair/Jewellery/Make-up
Regarding styling, remember you want to be yourself in your images and for anyone seeing your image, and then meeting you, to recognise you from your pictures so think about this when you are planning your hair, make up and clothes. As for men, facial hair… up to you what you want in your picture! We want to produce fantastic flattering images of you but ones that shows the real you too. Hair is notoriously difficult to retouch up so please ensure you have your hair as you want it to appear in your images as I arrive.
-
What sort of images will I end up with?
Depending on your location, and requirements, typically, you’ll end up with 10 guaranteed high images in both mono and colour. The portraits will be a combination of headshots (face & shoulders), portraits (3/4 or whole body) and environmental portraits (the whole of you but either doing something or within an area of a room). Should you wish to download more than 10 images, you will be asked for an additional fee/image. All detailed on the price page.

Processing & Retouching
Depending on time of year, it may take up to 2 weeks to process your images. It can be a lot less than that too. With regards to retouching your images, I can remove spots and smooth out blemishes and temporary red patches in post-production to a point. I don’t specialise in complex photoshop retouching - I can outsource those for an additional fee.
