Family Documentary Photography: Why do I care so much about my “Year in a Life” work?
Am I trying to sell this? Absolutely and unashamedly. It is by far the best service I can offer families who truly want to embrace the documenting of their lives… AND… it is also by far the most competitive package I offer. Why? Why do I make it so financially competitive?
One word: passion.
But before I start to explain what I mean, please give me 2 mins and watch the following little slideshow.
Working with families over time is my total passion. The thing that makes me tick the most. Yes I love weddings, and shorter sessions for sure but here I get to know you all individually, I get to understand you as a unit and I get to, most importantly, tell your story and your story alone. The images I produce take us away from the cheesy instagram lifestyle portraits that all your neighbours have on their walls. Instead, I have time to capture the personality of each member of your family so that what populates an album, a film and your walls are images that reflect you.
We decide what sort of coverage you want and need from me. Four visits of four hours or six visits of two? All of this depends on how far away you live too. The key is documenting you, and your family over time. Because it is that documentary that confirms what an incredible thing parenting is and growing up and becoming human! Over the course of a year, we witness language evolving in your tots, or relationships cementing between siblings, or even the family growing!
As part of my year in a life package, I also offer an end-of-year film made up of videography footage and sounds I have collected through the year. Laughter, words they can’t quite pronounce, tickles, arguments, tantrums, “Mummy I love you’s”… you name it… whatever madness you go through, it’s recorded and it’s turned into something you and your children will cherish for decades to come.
In terms of what you are getting for money, this is why I am so unashamedly selling this. A Year in a Life package includes, £2400 worth of sessions, £150 worth of prints, £400 worth of videography, £450 worth of an end-of year film and £570 worth of album. A total of £3970, but only at £2950, basically the price of a new corner sofa… except photos truly lasts a life time and more. And if you are a returning client, you get a 10% off my package as a loyalty discount. Some families also prefer to pay monthly over the course of the year, which is fine too.
