Lambeth Town Hall, Circular Hall Wedding Photography: “I only have one request: please make me look like James Bond”
You’d be surprised how many times I am asked that by the grooms. In all fairness, it’s the one day in your whole life when you are more than perfectly entitled to make that request. My answer is straight-forward: “Am no miracle worker”… all very tongue-in-cheek. Gotta have a bit of banter. Life is made for laughing.
But to be fair to Chris, this groom, when I opened the door to his best friend’s flat in Brixton where him and his Best Man were getting ready… I was kinda taken aback. He did look like James Bond! Kirsten, his bride, equally reminded me of an utterly sublime & elegant character out of a 1930s Spy film. Basically, my day was made. I had amazing material given to me on a plate. It was all down to me now to do my thing.
Lambeth Town Hall and, in particular, its circular hall, is, to be fair, probably one of my favourite registry office in London (with Marylebone and Islington attracting equal enthusiasm). We are incredibly lucky in the capital not only to have insanely beautiful registry offices, with incredibly diverse & dynamic backdrops such as the London scenes, but London registry offices are full of registrars who really do love their jobs and do believe in what they do. And that’s the point… on your wedding day, you need to surround yourself with people who believe in the massive significance of “I do”. Because why else would they do what they do if they didn’t? I still get shiny eyes during vows. I still get shiny eyes when I hear them say “husband” or “wife” for the very first time after the ceremony. I still get shiny eyes when I listen to the speeches. I cannot be a “it’s just a job” person. Because it isn’t. I am at your wedding. And I am going to be totally there with you celebrating.
So here is a drop-dead gorgeous pair, tying the knot, having a laugh, enjoying the moment, showing their love for one another and basically totally acing the Bond vibe. I know you’ll say there is a lot of black and white images… but a) you may have worked out that I LOVE monochrome… and b) James Bond… Spy films… Black and white was made for this!
