London Sky Garden Wedding Photography: How do we capture the wow and do it justice?
When Gabriele rang me months ago to book me for his wedding at the London Sky Garden, I knew I was in for a treat. A start at the Chelsea Old Town Hall, a nice cab ride with both of them, and then a cosy intimate dinner with his closest friends at Fenchchurch Restaurant. What’s not to love, huh?
Well, to tell you the truth, nothing. It’s all to love. Especially the couple. Within minutes of knowing them, we totally relaxed in each other’s company and therefore, they just let me do my thing. Once their ceremony at the Old Chelsea Town Hall (bear in mind there are two!)… and after our time together in the cab, we arrived at one of the most “wowsy” venue I have ever shot at. I guess it was pretty much on par with the Shard wedding I had shot a few months previously.
The thing is with glass buildings, most people may thing this is a photographer’s dream, so much natural light, right? Well, yes natural light is always a delight. But a lot of glass is actually quite hard to work with. How to convey wow properly? How do you do wow justice with photographs? Especially when it is a public building and ordinary people are mingling around everywhere… well… I guess, you have to think fast as a photographer if you want to provide your couple with images they’ll want to hang on their walls (my ultimate success criteria is whether you hang your images on your walls)… So I tried to do just that… think on my feet very fast indeed and come up with compositions that isolated my couple.
Hope you like them!
