Shendish Manor wedding photography: To all those out there who laugh loud and hug tight…

I want to hear from you. Yup. If laughter and hugs are your medicine, I want to work with you. Because every time I come across couples that embrace their wedding day like this end up with photos that capture that energy. And remember, a wedding is made by its guests. You can invest in the best venue, in the best caterers, in the best florist… but all you end up with the day after your wedding day, are you memories… and therefore, photos of those memories.

So here is a wedding I shot last June at Shendish Manor, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. And whilst the venue is beautiful, the food wonderful, what made that day for me was the bride, the groom, and all their guests.

Bridal prep was understated, and yet relaxed and enabled me to take beautiful images of the bride. She knew I am a lover of natural light and positioned herself near all the biggest windows of her parent’s house. The Church ceremony had me in tears as Alice’s nephew sang to the whole congregation with an unbroken voice a 12 year old boy from a best choir can master, and the reception had me in fits of laughter with the groom and best-man/woman’s speeches. Oh and by the way, if you’re looking for a magician, look no further, The Bowler Hatted Magician is so good I have booked him for my own renewal later this year.

It’s fair to say that I left Shendish manor later in the evening feeling like I had spent the day with people who just want to make the most of what they have with the people they love the most. And that’s pretty much the working environment that conduces the best to amazing pictures. Every time.

As usual, below are a few photographs that sum up the day, as well as the Sound Film the couple had requested. I recommend a sit and a watch & listen. By the end, you’ll see what I mean about people who laugh loud and hug tight.
