Let’s experience, let’s feel, let’s be… finally… together…
The last time I danced or photographed dancing at a wedding was … uhhh… let me put the kettle on, sit down and think about this one. I genuinely can’t remember. March 2020. Yup, March 2020.
Tomorrow, I am shooting a 1st anniversary/ renewing of vows and there is going to be lots of guests and hugging and also dancing!!!!! Yes!!!! Can you imagine that?! On an excitement scale out of 10, I am about 100. Don’t get me wrong, photographing the smaller wedding is totally my bag too, in fact, I genuinely love them. I am an introvert and thus totally see the value of them if you are a bride or groom and have a bit of an introvert in you too. The great thing about small/short weddings is that you are soooooo in your comfort zone with all your favourite peeps on the planet and can totally be yourself. And from my perspective, as a documentary photographer who loves the real, the magic and the chaos of life, authenticity is key. So the more at ease you are, the more natural the images are, the more you will look back in decades to come and adore these images for exactly what they are: nostalgia.
However, bigger can be good too, dancing action, people-mingling, squeals coming from all direction, laughter, sometimes tears, all in abundance is also incredible to experience and document, especially in 2021 when we’ve all been cooped up for over a year and are all desperate to be, together. Togetherness is indeed what we feel we are finally entitled to. And fair enough.
Anyway… not sure what is the point of this little bloglet (I like to add “let” to all things to make them smaller, why not)… other than to express my excitement, joy and happiness at being able to capture pure joy.
If you are getting married and you are looking for someone who is totally into “feeling”, into “experiencing” and into appreciating “togetherness” and capture that for you, get in touch. Let’s have a zoom and a cuppa, let’s connect.
