St Albans Cathedral Wedding Photography: Jen & Christo’s big day
Well, I am sorry but sometimes balance is everything… and this couple nailed the balance of their day.
Jen and Christo had tried to get married during Covid, as literally a million other couples did, and in the end… they could bear it no longer and opted for a “Let’s do this and let’s do this now - sort of” before another ridiculous catastrophe hit the country… like the fuel crisis for example…
So here is Jen arriving with her gang and literally floating into St Albans Cathedral. The ceremony was held in the cathedral’s 13th century Lady Chapel with an accompanying choir that literally moved me to tears.
The whole ceremony was elegant, unpretentious and earnest, which makes sense at this actually defines our couple here fairly accurately.
And the reason why I believe Jen and Christo hit the best balance here is because whilst they held their ceremony at such an absolutely jaw-dropping-OMG-pinch-me-am-I-really-here venue, their reception took place in their parent’s back garden, with their closest family and friends, around a hog roast, booze and plenty of laughter. Yup, pretty perfect balance right there me thinks.
So below are my pics of their day in colour, although I think many of them work as equally well in colour as they do in mono… my clients get both as part of their package. Jen and Christo’s gang were soooooo easy to work with, plenty of laughter, plenty of banter and people I could have, myself, ended up talking with for hours… and this is probably why I am particularly pleased with these images, as documentary wedding photographer… there is no need to stage or orchestrate decency, fun and … well… yes… love. It’s all there. Inhibited. Unguarded.
Anyhoo, here are their images. And if you are looking to get married soon and need a wedding photographer in Hertfordshire or pretty much any other county in the UK, well, get in touch! Natural wedding photography is my thing, and if it’s yours too then maybe we are a good match!
