Old Marylebone Town Hall, Soho & The Ivy Wedding Photography: Celebrating the energy of London

This is when two passions meet and I am totally in my element. Street photography and wedding photography in one.

Here is Sarah and Jack, parents of two little nuggets who decided, a day in early September, to tie the knot… and do so in insane style.

We started at one of my stomping grounds Old Marylebone Town Hall, one of my absolute fave registry offices around London. Favourite simply because a) the venue itself is GORGEOUS and oozes plenty of original features b) its neighbourhood offers a ton of environmental portrait opportunities (although not used on this occasion, but do check out another recent wedding where we did make use of it) and c) because the staff there really couldn’t do more for you. And I genuinely couldn’t say this about all registry offices in London. The registrars and security staff here really want you to have an unbelievable day.

So we started off at Old Marylebone Town Hall, then ventured off to Be at One, in Soho for a quick drink to celebrate the newly weds. Soho is wonderful, vibrant and full of backgrounds that make photographers like me very happy.

I started my photography career in street photography and thus when I have an opportunity to walk around London with my couples, I am literally in the best happy place I can be. I make use of people, the surroundings and I want to communicate the dynamism and the energy of the city. Else what would be the point in getting married there?!

After a short stop, we wandered off again in the direction of the Ivy where Sarah and Jack had booked a private room to have a decent meal in one of London’s best venues, The Ivy.

So yes, it did feel like I was photographing lots of James Bonds in the middle of London. What’s not to love?!

Here are a few images from my time with them. As you can see, it wasn’t a full day coverage, but 5 hours if I recall right. During summer time, and on weekend dates, 5 hours is the minimum coverage time that I will accept at these are very popular dates… I do love variety so I often take on shorter weddings. I couldn’t do the same type of wedding over and over again. I love to work with totally different people, in different places. I want to tell different stories, stories that fit you and your personality. And that’s the beauty of documentary wedding photography.

If you are looking for a photographer who loves to embrace London and its energy… and you are a fairly relaxed couple who prefers unposed wedding photography and natural images, then maybe we are a good fit.
